The Illinois Farm to Food Bank Capacity-Building Grant application period is now open, making up to $1.5 million available for food infrastructure projects that support capacity-building for Illinois’ emergency food system. Capacity-building projects will create lasting improvements that increase the ability to move Illinois-grown, raised, or processed products through Illinois’ food banks.
Applications close March 8th
The farm to foodbank capacity building grant will invest in critical infrastructure to scale up the processing, aggregation, and distribution of local food to meet the needs of Illinois’s most nutritionally insecure.
Illinois-based farmers and agricultural producers, farmer cooperatives or producer-led entities, agricultural partnerships, Illinois-based community organizations, Illinois-based aggregators, and Illinois-based food banks are eligible to apply for grants of up to $100,000.
The applications must be submitted by March 8.
Waivers for the 50% matching funds will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
