By expanding and cultivating our support base through outreach and education
Transforming the food and farm system is no small feat! To be taken seriously in change-making discussions, our work must be farmer-led.
But farmers alone do not have the numbers or influence needed to shift the system; what they need is an organizing force that can focus and maximize their efforts.
That’s why building collective power across our state is essential in making big change possible.
An empowered and informed base can support farmer-led solutions, move quickly to respond to urgent changes, and holds public officials and the industry accountable.
The Alliance builds collective power in three key ways:
1. Expanding our base
Expanding our Base
We grow our movement by connecting directly with farmers and eaters—our core base. By organizing farmers market outreach, attending community events, and presenting at conferences, we go the extra mile meet people where they are to invite them into the work.
2. Educating new change-makers
Educating new Changemakers
The legislative process moves quickly and the landscape can be challenging to navigate. Through regular communications and educational workshops and webinars, the Alliance makes it easy to be an informed and engaged agent of change.
3. Collaborating with allies
Collaborating with Allies
Our movement is stronger when it’s shared. By participating in coalitions and collaborating with aligned organizations, we move together toward policy and cultural change that amplifies our collective impact. We are able to become a stronger ally that supports broader justice movements while bringing key food and farm issues to the table.
